IDOLS OF THE RADIO
by Ivo Pelay
>From the corner of my gray and solitary garret
and in front of the lights of the Paris night,
today I have begun to dream of the happy land
that I left behind the sea to come here…
And the memory steamed up the distant vision,
and through the air it has arrived to me
Argentina, a voice that a thousand times I heard…!
And in my gray garret of Paris
a voice sings a song
of my country!
It is the voice that victorious
my city traveled!…
It is the voice that I heard
conquering my city,
and today across the sea
brings to me,
its emotion and friendship…
Dear voices that when crossing the immensity
They arrive friendly to cure my solitude!…
voices full of love!… Advicers of good,
that in victorious parade they surround me of faith!…
Sweet voices that yesterday, in my lands I heard
and today friendly, are loving here;
messengers of sun and of home, next to me!…
Voices that when crossing the immensity,
they bring to my a song of my city!…
