THE LAST GLASS. Caruso-Canaro.
Pour, friend, anyhow, pour for me and fill
to the rim the glass of champagne
that this night of spree and of happiness
I want to drown the pain that is in my soul.
It is the last spree of my life
of my life boys that it is going..
Better said about that one
that never knew how to appreciate my love.
I loved her, boys and I love her still
and I could never forget her..
I get drunk for her
and who knows what she will do..
Pour more champagne, waiter
so that by drinking I should drown
all my pain
and if you see her
my friends, tell her
that it has been for her love
that my life is already gone.
And we offer, anyhow,
the last glass
that, perhaps, she also may be offering
offering with her mouth some toast
and another feverish mouth may be kissing her.
Pour, friend, anyhow, pour for me and fill
to the rim the glass of champagne
because my life is gone after the one
that never knew how to appreciate my love.
